Six sexy specimens have been selected to compete for the chance to start a life with Sophie. Armed with skills in drag, burlesque, comedy, and dance, each romantic suitor delivers their own unique performance to win Sophie’s heart. With the love and support of Sharon, THE RINSE OFF!’s disembodied narrator, and Dawn, her pet rat from the sewers, Sophie makes the impossible decision of choosing someone to send home. Our borders are shifting. Our bodies are transforming.Set in a world where water is rapidly rising and borders are massively disintegrating, Queer & Now: Sync or Swim follows seven mythical deities overcoming struggles rooted in rampant sexism, corporate greed, and climate change.
Told through a series of vignettes with drag, lip syncing, and dance, Queer & Now: Sync or Swim takes ancient world mythology and fuses it with contemporary pop music to embrace our impending future. PRODUCTION HISTORY

QUEER & NOW: A LIP SYNC SPECTACULAR (2017-18)
A life-changing transformation from the Christian Mother Mary into the Yoruba water deity Oxum. An entrance into the raunchy world of Marie Antoinette and her gender fluid lover Tomas du Pan. An alternate ending to the tragic life of Judy Garland. QUEER & NOW: A Lip Sync Spectacular features seven vignettes of drag, lip sync, and dance, each helmed by a member of the devising ensemble. Each scene offers one perspective of queerness, one possible transformation, one celebration, and one dissent.
